BACKGROUND:
Scope: 17 stairs for a main parking garage with a double cantilever stair design, minimal support and another stair hanging off of it
Customer: Nitterhouse Concrete Products
General Contractor: Gilbane

PROBLEM SOLVED:
The beautiful design by Payette Associates was indeed a challenge. The integral stair landings were supported by a tree column underneath and a small area on one side of the landing. The reinforcement was configured with low deflection criteria, due to the minimal support available. Because Castcon brought an architectural sensibility to this structural product, the end result was a beautiful stair system that complemented Nitterhouse Concrete’s architectural and structural precast.
