General Job Requirements:
Qualifications
- Must be able to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between a series of numbers.
- Must be able to write in a printed format.
- Must be able to speak simple sentences.
- Must be able to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide by 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Must have the ability to apply common sense with an understanding of how to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds.
- Must have visual abilities that include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust visual focus.
- Must be able to wear personal protection equipment, such as earplugs, safety glasses, and safety shoes, etc.
Previous Experience / Educational Qualifications:
- Less than a high school education is acceptable with GED;
- or up to one month work related experience or training;
- or equivalent combination of education and experience.
HOURS: 5:00 am or 7:00 am (depending upon position) until work is complete, Monday through Friday, and generally every other Saturday. Hours are subject to change depending upon workload.
Job Description:
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Under frequent supervision, works in production of architectural and structural precast concrete products by performing the following duties:
- Lifts, places, positions, and removes components and materials from work areas and casting beds in all phases of production.
- Uses tape measure and templates to indicate reference points for daily form setup.
- Must be able to accurately read tape measure and dimensions in feet, inches, and fractions.
- Loads, stacks, and transports stock, tools, molds, and work in process by wheelbarrow, fork truck or jib crane.
- Attaches grappling equipment to work pieces to prepare work piece for moving by jib crane or fork truck.
- Cleans and scrapes molds preparatory to casting. Assembles molds as required.
- Works well with co-workers in a productive and efficient manner.
- Cleans materials from the shop floor, which may include, sand, cement dust, oil, grease, etc.
- Picks up reusable scrap for salvage and stores it in containers.
- Shovels concrete from distribution bucket in forms.
- Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials or connects tow truck to trailer hitch, and transports load to designated area.
- Picks up and removes waste material from work areas.
- Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
- Performs other routine duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
There will be performance reviews at 6-month intervals.
